How GeoHide scoring works, and how to win

GeoHide rewards two very different skills in the same game: finding people and being hard to find. Understanding exactly how the points work is the difference between a fun game and a winning one.

Guesser scoring

Each time you guess a hider's location, you earn up to 5,000 points. A perfect pin on the exact spot scores the full 5,000, and the score falls off the further your guess lands from the truth. The drop-off is gradual, not all-or-nothing: a guess that's in the right city still scores very well, and even a guess that's merely in the right country earns a respectable chunk. This is why committing to your best reasoning always beats leaving a guess unplaced.

Hider scoring

When it's your location being hunted, you earn a bonus based on how far off everyone else's guesses were. The harder you are to find, on average, the bigger your reward. A spot that sends the whole lobby to the wrong continent is worth a lot of points to you, which is why choosing your hiding spot well (see our hiding guide) is half the game.

Winning the full game

• Always place a guess. Because scoring is graded by distance, a rough guess is far better than none. Never let the timer run out with an empty map.
• Balance both roles. Players who only practise guessing leave easy hider points on the table. Put real thought into every hiding spot.
• Manage the clock. Pan a full 360° early, form a hypothesis, then spend your remaining time confirming rather than second-guessing.
• Play the average. As a hider you're scored against the whole lobby, so a spot that fools the weakest guessers as well as the strongest maximises your bonus.

The highest combined score across all rounds wins. Master both halves of the game, the hunt and the hide, and you'll climb the leaderboard fast.
