How to pick a hiding spot that nobody can find
6 min read
Most players obsess over guessing and treat hiding as an afterthought. That's a mistake: in GeoHide you score points every round for how badly your hunters miss you. A great hiding spot can out-earn a great guess. Here's how to choose one.
Strip away the clues
A good hiding spot is one that denies your hunters the very clues the guessing guide teaches them to find. Work down the checklist and remove as many as you can:
- No readable text. Avoid shopfronts, billboards, and road signs. Language is the fastest giveaway.
- Generic road furniture. Skip the countries with famous bollards and unique poles if you can; pick somewhere visually anonymous.
- Common imagery. A plain Gen 3 residential street in a big country is far harder than a scenic or unusual location.
Hide in the big anonymous middle
Enormous, uniform countries are your friend. A generic suburban street in Brazil, the United States, Russia or Indonesia could be almost anywhere within a landmass that spans thousands of kilometres. Even a hunter who nails the country will drop a pin hundreds of kilometres from you.
Avoid the dead giveaways
Some "clever" spots backfire. A famous landmark feels sneaky but is instantly recognisable. An island is memorable and easy to remember once seen. Snowy mountains, deserts, and coastlines all narrow the search dramatically. Boring beats clever.
Think about distance, not secrecy
Remember how scoring works: you're rewarded for the distance of each guess, not for being literally unfindable. You don't need a spot nobody could ever place; you need a spot where a reasonable guess still lands far away. That's why "generic street in a huge country" is the whole meta of hiding.
